How many children and adults can attend HealthWorks! during one field trip?
HealthWorks! does not allow for groups of over 200 to visit the museum at 1 time. If your group does exceed this number, we will need to schedule you for 2 different dates or times.
Will my group be split up?
For groups of 80+ we recommend splitting up. When you arrive at the museum, please have the split groups predetermined, and let the Captivating Crew Chief know those groups. Your field trip will still fit within the 2 hours. While one group is in their show, the other group will be out on the floor.
Is there a place for us to eat lunch?
We do not offer indoor spaces for groups to eat lunch. Depending on the weather, groups do have the option to eat on our patio, but we do not provide seating, so blankets are recommended. Forest Park is also across the street and can be driven to easily, or walked to. We can assist with walking if you need us to do so
How many chaperones can I bring?
HealthWorks! requires 1 chaperone for every 10 children. Those chaperones are free. Any chaperones over that ratio are $5. Please include the approximate number of chaperones you are expecting in your reservation, even if they are paying separately.
How long is a field trip?
All field trips last 2 hours. If you need to leave early, please let us know as soon as you can.
What does a field trip include?
Play time on our exhibit floor, a showing of our Mouth Movie and a Health Educator led show of your choice.
What time are field trips?
Field trips may be reserved Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday starting at 9:30 and ending at 2:30.
Will my group be at the museum alone?
At this time, if you make a reservation on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, your group will be the only ones at the museum.
Parking?
Parking is free! Buses and large vans will be given instructions for free parking on Macklind Ave. once they have dropped the children off at the entrance. Small vans and cars can park in the parking located at the entrance, off of Berthold Ave. *If the parking lot is full, there is free street parking along Macklind Ave. Chaperones driving separately cannot park in other business’ parking lots.
How do I reserve a field trip?
Fill out this form or email us at [email protected] to make a field trip request. Once your request is approved you will be asked to return a signed contract and a $25 deposit.
*Please note, deposits are nonrefundable for canceled field trips, though they can be applied to another field trip if you would like to switch your date.

If one group has multiple field trips, how many deposits do they have to make?
Field trips are required to make a deposit for each day/time they have reserved. You can ask them if they would like the entire deposit amount taken off of one day, or if they would prefer separate, $25 payments.
Can I pay in advance?
Absolutely. However, we will still need updated attendance numbers on the day of your field trip. The head chaperone should still speak with the Front Desk to ensure these numbers are correct and payment has been received. It is highly recommended that you bring your full payment with you on the day of your field trip in case your group is smaller than anticipated.
If I pay in advance, and less kids show up than I had anticipated, can I be reimbursed?
Unfortunately, we can only offer refunds if the amount if over $25. If this is the case, we will have to write a check and this could take a few days to process.
I am hoping to bring a group with special needs. How do we pay?
Groups with special needs can set up a request just like usual and they do have to pay the $5 per person. However, any aides that they have with them are free. If there are other chaperones accompanying the group that are not aides exceeding the 1:10 ratio, they will also pay $5.
